For some, the big news coming out of today's Apple event might be the long-awaited introduction of the USB-C connector coming to iPhone 15 devices. For others, perhaps its spatial video capabilities that were introduced with the iPhone 15 Pro.
But, for storage aficionados, the true highlight of the event was quickly snuck in at the very end by Apple. And, what was that? New iCloud+ storage plans.
Apple announced that finally joining the currently available 50GB, 200GB, and 2TB options are two new, larger-tiered plans: 6TB and 12TB.

Is it worth your money to upgrade? For more than a decade, Apple has offered 5GB (lol) of free storage to all iCloud users, along with a tiny 50GB plan at 99 cents, a 200GB plan at $2.99, and the largest available plan of 2TB at $9.99. Each year since, Apple has announced higher quality videos and photos and other features that would likely require larger storage space for users looking to constantly backup to the cloud.
In fact, Mashable pointed outthis issue just last year, after Apple's iPhone 14 event, and called for the company to offer larger plans.
At the time, Mashable shared a workaround that would give users 4TB of iCloud space, but it required that users sign up for an additional Apple subscription. That service, Apple One, provides users with bundled subscriptions to Apple's other subscription services like Apple Music and Apple TV+. In order to get 4TB of iCloud+ space, a user would have to sign up to the highest Apple One tier at $29.95 per month along with still paying for their monthly $9.99 iCloud+ 2TB subscription.
Basically, 4TB would previously cost a user around $40 per month, roughly four times the iCloud+ 2TB pricing.

Now, users who need the extra iCloud+ space but aren't interested in the other bundled services with Apple One can get even more iCloud storage space at a lower cost with these new plans.
According to Apple, the new plans for iCloud+ are priced at $29.99 per month for 6TB and $59.99 per month for 12TB. They will be available starting Monday, September 18.
