The Thursday Slatest newsletter.

Today’s biggest stories:
- Boris Johnson, the yellow-haired “Leave” guy,” announced in a surprise move that he will not seek to become British prime minister.
- Indiana Gov. Mike Pence is apparently being seriously considered as a Trump running mate. He has nice hair (not yellow).
- It looks like Trump may have broken FEC rules by soliciting contributions from foreign officials, and it also looks like he has not yet filed with the FEC to forgive the loans he gave his own campaign despite having claimed he would do so. Also Trump apparently used to have a system to listen in to the phone conversations that Mar-a-Lago employees were having with guests. And a fan at one of his rallies asked a darkly humorous/incomprehensible question about “heebie jobbies,” by which she appeared to mean “turbans.”
- Obama signed a bill that at least temporarily ameliorates the Puerto Rican debt crisis.
- Paul Ryan says the House will vote on gun-control legislation, but don’t get your hopes up.
- Turkey thinks ISIS carried out the Istanbul airport shooting/bombing.
- Some prosecutors really, really like the death penalty.
Have a good night out there.
